Trail Conditions Update

11/22: Trails are closed. We want to preserve our base and expect to re-open as soon we get another inch or so, which may happen later today. We'll update as soon as there is a change in trail status.

11/16: We are open. Read the blog to see and read about trail conditions. Trails groomed include, Doggy Prospectors, Busy Beavers, Prospectors and part of Light Me Up. Rock Skis are suggested. No Dogs on trails. Access to Yurt is with skis or snowshoes. No walking on trails.

11/15, 08:15, We are open, read the following updates for conditions No dogs on trails.

11/14 10:07 PM We are opening tomorrow AM. Groomed (rolled) trails are Doggy Prospectors, Busy Beavers, Prospectors and part of Light Me Up. Rock Skis are suggested, Expected a covering of new snow on groomed trails. Its thin but should be OK. 11/14: 04:45 PM 2" snow today and snowing. Rolled Busy Beaver and Prospectors at 12:00 PM another 1" since then. It was too thin after rolling, but the additional snow fall makes it a possibilty for tomorrow. We need just a little bit more. Lets see how much more falls and we'll make the call either later this eve or tomorrow early AM. 11/13: 3" new snow this week, Snowmaking completed on Learn to Ski Area and trail access points. Forecasted snow may allow opening. Stay tuned. Trails are closed for the time being. We will keep this page updated as conditions change.

Dec 20, 2014: First day of Junior Program for ages 8+.

Jan 3, 2015: First day of Junior Program for ages 5-7.

Jan 11, 2015: Free Learn to Ski Days with the Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation. The local club will provide free lessons and Homestake Lodge will provide free equipment rentals and trail passes to those signed up for the lessons. Feb 7, 2015: Homestake Women's Skate Ski Clinic all day Saturday. Instructors: Mandy Axelson, Shayla Swanson, Kaelin Kiesel, and Heidi Makoutz

Break into ability levels and ski instruction in the morning. Lunch is soup and rolls from Homestake Lodge, followed by a quick information session on equipment. The afternoon is spent on skiing the trails and doing some one on one work with the instructor. The day finishes up back at the lodge with some snacks and drinks and a waxing clinic. Feb 21, 2015: Homestake Hustle! Second annual Junior Ski Race for U14's. Really any age can show up. We will have a 1k and a 2k loop starting and finishing at the lodge.
