Butte has a fascinating history behind itself. There is a lot to see in this old mining town: The old copper mines, the Berkeley pit (largest superfund in the country), the Lady of the Rockies, the architecture of uptown Butte, the historical and art museums and other cultural destinations. Just driving through Uptown Butte is an enjoyable experience. The architecture is mind blowing. At the turn of the century Butte was one of the wealthiest cities in America. When electricity was being introduced, Copper was being discovered in Butte, and the city just exploded.
The Butte area is also known for its recreational opportunities. Butte has xc skiing, alpine skiing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, hunting, boating, etc.
Lewis and Clark Caverns is a short drive away. Helena, the capital of Montana is 1 hr away. Yellowstone National Park is a 2 hour drive.

BA&P Hill trail: 2 miles of paved and 2 miles of gravel trail. Walk through historic uptown Butte neighborhoods along the rail line and historic mineyards.
Continental Divide Trail
Homestake Lake/Lake Delmoe: Delmoe is 10 miles up the dirt road and provides fishing and boating opportunities.
Ringing Rocks: Enjoy this unique rock formation where the rocks chime when tapped with a hammer.
Whitetail-Pipestone: enjoy over 65 miles of trail for ATVing, hiking, biking, etc. Land is administered by BLM.
